Second Attempt

After a failed vegetable garden in the fall (so hot outside) I decided to give it another go this spring.  Most planting calendars for Arizona show that optimal planting time for spring is the last week of February.  I planted my seeds, a tomato transplant, strawberry transplants, and a pepper transplant today.  Seeds:  watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, corn, sunflower, zinnia, and wild flowers.
The area that holds the sunflower and zinnia seeds is basic Arizona dirt.  The watermelon, cantaloupe, wild flower, and zinnia seeds is a mix of upgraded dirt and Arizona dirt.  The corn, cucumber, tomato, strawberry, and pepper is all upgraded dirt.
I started by weeding the areas and freeing them of bermuda grass- which is next to impossible to get rid of- I planted the seeds according to package directions.  Watered the areas with my hose.  No fancy spray nozzle here, just the tip of my thumb at the top of the hose.
Hopefully in a few months I might be eating home grown fruits and vegetables.
